Tímea, our student’s experiences and adventures in London and Greenwich!

The following post was written by Varga Tímea, who traveled to London with us:

The opportunity to travel abroad was provided to me by the company where I work, Ke-Víz 21 Zrt.

The goal was to improve my communication skills, primarily in speaking.

I was able to choose the right language school from several options, selecting the one that seemed most suitable for my needs—and it truly was.

I chose the Oxford International London Greenwich English School in London.

Before the trip, during the planning period, I consulted with Juhász Dávid (managing director of IH Budapest).

He prepared me and also gave me tips and advice. We exchanged several emails, spoke on the phone, and during a video call he helped me with a map-based overview to navigate and better understand the locations of the sights, which was a great help. He reassured me that if anything went wrong, I could count on them.

Everyone at the school was very kind and helpful.

On the first day, there was a test and an oral interview, based on which I was placed in a group that matched my language level.

I really enjoyed the lessons; the school was well equipped, and the classes had a friendly, family-like atmosphere.

There were interesting programs organized for students every day of the week.

The teacher, Marcel, is an excellent instructor—patient and cheerful. His teaching method is outstanding, and not a single lesson was boring or monotonous.

My classmates were young people of different nationalities: Turkish, Italian, French, and Kuwaiti.

Although we were from different nationalities, everyone was open and friendly.

After classes, I planned to visit a sight or landmark every day.

London has become one of my favorite cities.

My favorite sights were Greenwich Park near the school, Big Ben, Tower Bridge (especially the glass walkway connecting the two towers 😊), the British Museum, Buckingham Palace, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, Hyde Park, Sky Garden, Kyoto Garden, and the Notting Hill neighborhood, famous for its colorful houses.

The city lights at night were truly breathtaking.

The trip exceeded all my expectations.

Since I traveled alone, I felt a little nervous, but in hindsight, it was completely unnecessary. I confidently recommend studying a language abroad to everyone. Although I only spent two weeks there, during that time not only did my language skills improve, but my personality grew as well.

I wholeheartedly recommend International House Budapest to anyone planning to study a language abroad. I hope to take part in another course in the near future.

Best regards, Varga Tímea
