Learn where you take the exam

Both the lessons and the exam take place at Lajos u. 11–15. On exam day you arrive at a place you already know.

Two full mock exams

You write the first in class under real exam conditions, and the second at home during the winter break. After each one you get feedback on every paper.

Every lesson is part of the exam

In every session you can see which paper and task type we are practising. All 18 task types are covered.

You also try the Speaking test three times

A full Speaking mock in pairs, with feedback. In the final lesson, three days before the exam, we go through your exam-day strategy.

Is this course for you?

The course is for people who already communicate at C1 level and want to prepare specifically for the Cambridge C1 Advanced exam. It does not teach the language from scratch: it practises the exam tasks and exam technique.

1 — You already speak at C1 level and have a specific exam goal.

2 — You can commit to 30–45 minutes of practice at home per session.

3 — If you are not sure about your level, the placement test will show you in a few minutes whether the C1 Advanced or the B2 First course is right for you.

The course starts with a minimum of 5 participants, and places are limited. If your level is not yet B2, you can catch up with our 30-hour general courses .

Exam structure

Multi-level result — paper-based or computer-based, you choose the format

All four papers take place on one day. The paper-based and digital formats are identical in content and recognition, and the Speaking test is always face to face with an examiner. The pass mark is 180 on the Cambridge English Scale: with an outstanding performance the certificate can also show a C2-level result, and with a weaker performance the B2 level achieved remains an official, usable result.

Reading & Use of English — 1 hour 30 minutes · 8 parts, 56 questions

Vocabulary, grammar and reading comprehension in one paper: multiple-choice cloze, open cloze, word formation, key word transformation, multiple choice, cross-text multiple matching, gapped text and multiple matching. This gets the most time on the course: 9 lessons.

Writing — 1 hour 30 minutes · 2 parts

The first task is always an essay of 220–260 words; in the second you choose from a letter or email, a proposal, a report and a review. After both mock exams you get individual marking and a model answer.

Listening — approx. 40 minutes · 4 parts, 30 questions

Short extracts, sentence completion, multiple matching and multiple choice. In class we practise in timed rounds and pay special attention to typical distractors.

Speaking — 15 minutes in pairs, 23 minutes in groups of three · 4 parts

Interview, long turn (comparing two photos), collaborative task and discussion — always face to face with an examiner. During the course we run through it three times as a full Speaking test, with peer feedback.
