Terms and conditions (Machine-translated, when in doubt, and in case of dispute, Hungarian version is used)

A lenti ÁSZF az International House Hungary  Kft.  (Felnőttképzési Nyilvántartási szám: B/2025/001543 , továbbiakban „Képző”), és a képzésben résztvevő (továbbiakban „Résztvevő”) között jön létre (továbbiakban „Felek”) és része a felnőttképzési szerződésnek. Az ÁSZF a Képző lakossági csoportos TANTERMI ÉS ONLINE képzéseire vonatkoznak, mint általános feltételek:

A. Possible forms of contract:

  •  - Adult learning contract concluded as a result of an online application/purchase process

The Trainer and the Participant are not present when the contract is concluded. The Participant reads the terms and conditions of the course on the Trainer's website and confirms his/her acceptance of the terms and conditions by accepting them (online payment).

  • - Adult learning contract concluded live

The Trainer and the Participant are simultaneously present at the conclusion of the contract, but a paper contract is not signed, but the Parties verbally agree on the terms and conditions, after which the Trainer sends a summary e-mail to the Participant with the details of the course. By paying, the Participant confirms his/her acceptance of the terms and conditions.

  • - Adult learning contract concluded by phone / email

The Trainer and the participant are not present at the same time when the contract is concluded but are consulted by telephone or email. A paper contract is not signed, but the parties agree the terms and conditions verbally, after which the Trainer sends a summary email to the Participant with details of the course. By paying, the Participant confirms his/her acceptance of the terms and conditions.

B. Launch of training courses

The Participant then completes the assessment provided by the Trainer (orally and/or in writing) and is placed in a training course based on the assessment and his/her previous language skills.

If the number of applicants and enrolments reaches the minimum number advertised, the date, level, intensity, and location of the training will be confirmed. If the number of applicants, enrolments and paid students does not reach the minimum number of groups, students will be placed on a waiting list or other options (e.g. private lessons) will be offered to start as soon as possible, or, if the Participant is willing and able to wait to start the course, the Trainer will contact the Participant as soon as possible after the minimum number of groups has been reached. In cases where there is a change in the content or other details of the course, Trainer will communicate the changes to Participant as soon as possible.

If the Trainer is unable to guarantee the Participant's enrolment in existing courses within 30 calendar days, and the Participant cannot accept alternative offers or cannot wait more than 30 calendar days, the Participant may request a refund of the course fee, which the Trainer must provide within 30 calendar days, but the Participant may not claim interest, penalty, or compensation in such cases.

C. Location of training courses

The Parties mutually agree on the location to be designated by the Trainer and accepted by the Participant by payment. The Trainer agrees to start the training paid for by the Participant at the location agreed in the student contract and to hold the training at the agreed location for at least half of the total number of hours. The parties agree that up to half of the lessons may be held at another location, but within the original municipality of the training location. In case the legal framework does not allow for face-to-face classes, Trainer will provide the course continuity in an online framework. In the case of online training, the Trainer will provide the virtual classrooms, while Participants can join by clicking on the link provided.

D. Content of the training fee

The Training Fee includes (20% of the total fee): an assessment of the Participant's needs and previous knowledge and skills, assistance, and counselling according to the Participant's needs, and the organisation of the Participant's training. The remaining 80% of the fee is for the preparation of the course and the syllabus, the Participant's participation in the course and other course-related services such as level assessment and language tests. The course fee, unless otherwise stated, does not include textbooks. Participant accepts that Trainer reserves the right for any teacher change and/or substitution, for which Participant cannot claim any refund or reimbursement of any kind.

E. Length of lessons

In the case of classroom training, a lesson may last a minimum of 60 minutes; for lessons of 60-90 minutes, a maximum of one shorter break may be taken. In the case of online classes, a lesson is at least 60 minutes, 90% of which is taught by the trainer's colleague and 10% of which may include independent work by the student without a taught component (e.g., homework).

F. Number of students

The minimum and maximum number of participants for a given course is specified in the oral adult education contract. These numbers are at the discretion of the Trainer. The Trainer reserves the right not to start a language course until the minimum number of students has been reached.

G. Level assessment

Participants can choose a service based on the product descriptions on the website, either in person at the customer service desk or by phone. After purchase, the Trainer will contact the Participant, instruct him/her on the written assessment test and offer an appointment for an oral assessment either in person or online. In some cases, e.g., for exam preparation courses, the oral assessment is neither guaranteed nor relevant.

H. Level change

If it becomes apparent to the Trainer or the Participant that the Participant's language skills do not match the level of the group, the Trainer may recommend a change of level. If the Trainer considers that the Participant's language proficiency, or possible lack thereof, is negatively affecting the progress of the group, he/she may, after informing the Participant, transfer the Participant to another group, which is binding on the Participant. If a Participant indicates that the group is not suitable for him/her, the instructor may propose a change of group in the first instance, followed by the Director of Studies. A change of group requested by the Participant is not binding on the Trainer if the request is not pedagogically justified. A change of group may be made to a lower or higher level in the light of the courses concerned. In case one of the groups cannot meet the Participant's needs, despite the Trainer's proposals, the Parties may seek a mutual agreement, but the reimbursement of the tuition fee is not a binding option for the Trainer.

I. Providing the curriculum

The course materials, except for the textbook in most cases, are provided by the Trainer. Participant may purchase the textbook in person at the reception. If Participant refuses to purchase the course materials and/or textbooks recommended by the Trainer, it is Participant's responsibility to provide access to them at Participant's expense.

J. Levels and study materials

Participant may inquire about levels by contacting the Trainer verbally, by telephone, by email or by visiting the Trainer's website for levels and the level system.

K. Performance monitoring, evaluation

Attendance and progress of participants is recorded in the trainer's attendance sheet and in the trainer's internal system. In the case of certain online training courses, Parties agree to screenshots of both Trainer's colleagues and Participants. When evaluating and issuing a certificate, the Trainer may consider the Candidate's attendance, progress, classroom activity, skills development and other skills demonstrated in the classroom.

L. Final Module Examination

At the end of each 120 lessons, the Trainer will evaluate the Participant's progress and, depending on the outcome, will either offer the Participant a new language level or a consolidation course in cases where the Participant's level would not yet reach the minimum entry level for the next level.

M. IH Certificate

The final assessment at the end of the module is a prerequisite for the issue of the certificate. In the Adult Education Administration System (FAR), a certificate cannot be issued by a Trainer without successful course completion. A certificate can be requested by the Participant and will be issued by the Trainer within 8 days, which the Participant can collect from the Trainer's Buda centre during opening hours, by prior arrangement.

N. Discounts

Our discounts are available on the Trainer's website and will be communicated orally to Participants by the Trainer.

O. Absence

In case of the Participant’s absence, the Training Provider does not offer make-up classes. The value of missed lessons is non-transferable and cannot be used later. In such cases, the Participant may catch up through individual lessons, which can be purchased via our customer service. If the Participant misses more than 40% of the lessons paid for in the course, they will not be allowed to move on to the next (higher) level. Instead, they must either repeat the current level, attend a consolidation course, or retake the placement test and achieve a sufficient result in order to progress.

P. Information on data management

Trainer's data management policy and regulations are available on Trainer's website.

Q. Continuation of the course

Participants can contact Trainer's customer service to indicate if they wish to continue the course and Trainer will automatically offer to continue the course.

R. Handling complaints

If a Participant has a complaint about the training, he/she may report it to the Customer Service in person or by email ([email protected] ). If the Parties are unable to resolve the complaint within 5 days of the complaint being made, the Participant may address his/her complaints and questions to the Executive Directors. If the Parties are still unable to agree on any solution, the Participant may refer the problem/complaint to the General Inspectorate for Consumer Protection.

S. School days, holidays and public holidays

The scheduled training sessions (timetable) are detailed in the verbal adult education contract. If a given day is a public holiday and no training takes place, the Trainer may offer and agree on a make-up session for the Participants. Deviations from these may only be made by mutual agreement of the Parties.

T. Termination of the contract by the Trainer

The Trainer may terminate an adult education contract concluded orally or in writing with immediate effect if

1. the Participant is medically unfit to continue participation

2. the Participant fails to make payments after repeated reminders or requests, or fails to pay the course fees in advance following previous non-payments

3. The participant's behaviour does not allow or endangers the successful continuation/retention of the training

4. the Participant commits an act or behaviour contrary to the Penal Code towards the Participant's group mates or Training colleagues and teachers at the place and time of the training

If the Participant's course is interrupted for reasons 2, 3 or 4 above, the Trainer may in such cases claim damages from the Participant.

U. Participant's right of termination

The Participant also has the right to terminate the adult education contract. In such a case, in the event of termination of the contract, the Parties shall settle the contract and the applicable laws. The Participant may terminate the contract in person at the Trainer's customer service or by email ([email protected]). A written record of the termination of the contract and/or an email will be sent to the Participant either on the spot or later by email. If the Parties have claims against each other, the Parties will try to settle them as soon as possible, but within 30 days at the latest.

In case of termination, the amount already paid by the applicant will be reduced by the value of the lessons already attended (expired lessons / number of paid lessons), as well as the value of services provided prior to the training (e.g., course organization fee). In the case of group training, any refund falls under the discretion of the Training Provider and may only be granted on a case-by-case basis, but it is not guaranteed. The amount already paid is non-transferable and cannot be used by anyone else.

Special cases of cancellation:

- Cancellation and refunds only apply to the hours of private training and 2:1 training. It is possible to cancel a group course after the course has started, but in this case, it is at the discretion of the Trainer whether to offer a refund to the Participant if the Participant cancels the remaining hours. Trainer reserves the right to change teachers and/or substitute classes, for which Participant is not eligible for any refund, unless they are unhappy with the new teacher / substitute, in which case they have to follow the Complaints procedure set out above.

In cases where the cancellation of the training is due to the Training Provider, the Participant will be refunded the full course fee minus the value of the lessons already completed.

V. Modification of the invoice by the customer

Once an invoice has been issued, it is no longer possible to modify the customer and issue a completely new or only a partially new invoice.

W. Fire safety and health regulations

By signing the contract and paying the tuition fee, the participant acknowledges that he has been made aware of the health and fire safety regulations applicable to the training and its location.

Pandemic measures: the trainer monitors and complies with regulations and legislation relating to him/her, the location and the service. In some cases, Trainer may impose rules and regulations on the training site that protect or may protect the health of Trainer, his colleagues, his teachers, his students, or any person associated with Trainer. Trainer shall have the right to periodically review and enforce these provisions. If Participant fails to comply with these rules, Trainer may terminate the Adult Education Contract without refund of any full or partial fee.
